Pakasa: 10 luxurt short stay apartements in the city center of Leiden
In the historic centre of Leiden, 100 meters from the fortress ‘De Burcht’ you will find Pakasa; ten luxuries, full service apartments, The exclusive short stay apartments are available for rental from two weeks up to six months. For international employees this is a perfect place to stay. Developer Hans Bakker: ‘You cannot find anything comparable at this level in Leiden.’
The buildings are located between the Oude Rijn and the Koppenhinksteeg. Three hundred years ago the buildings were used as warehouses to ripen and preserve cheeses. After they got ripe, the cheeses were weighed and traded on the square opposite the buildings. This piazza is now called ‘Kaasmarkt’ which is dutch for ‘cheese market’. It took almost two years for the transformation to complete. Architect Hans Bakker chose to preserve as many authentic parts as possible to create a monumental atmosphere and appearance. Next to that, he has provided each individual apartment with unprecedented luxury, comfort and privacy.
Pakasa, or… your home away from home
The old cheese houses have been transformed into ten luxury apartments. Eight two-room apartments of 50 square meters and two three-room apartments of 100 square meters.
Bakker: ‘’What does the critical visitor want? Luxury, accessibility, privacy, convenience and a spacious living area. I took that into account in every possible way: the shopping centre and museums are around the corner.
The Central Station and Leiden University are within walking distance, and in less than ten minutes the ‘Bio Science Park’ can be reached by bike. The citry center is also very reachable from other high tech parks in the region.
Short-term parking is available at the adjacent Kaasmarkt, and long-term parking is available at Haagweg. (P+R)
Complete service
All ten apartments are fully furnished and are equipped with a spacious living room, a bedroom, kitchen, dining table, luxury bathroom and a balcony. There is a lot of daylight everywhere in the building.
The decoration of both the apartment and the common areas exude domesticity.
Bakker: ’’Those who are far from home want to feel safe and leisurely somewhere. Everything is made in such a way that it feels like your own home. With all the luxury amenities you expect and are used to from a top hotel. From a cleaning service to a (on request) breakfast service. “You don’t have to worry about anything’’.
Privacy
All apartments have their own fixed data line for internet and Wi-Fi. No one can just log in to your computer or phone.
Bakker: ‘For example, if you are working on a patent application, you don’t have to worry that someone else is watching. All apartments are equipped with the most modern and safe data equipment’.
Habitable space
The apartments are spacious and open, making them ideal for private discussions and business meetings. Thanks to the quietness, Pakasa is a good workplace and an attractive location to receive people. The living space is flooded by daylight and there are historical aspects everywhere. You could for instance even have a meeting at the kitchen table. Every kitchen is equipped with all modern appliances, and all apartments have a separate sleeping area.
The residences on the alley side have a small French balcony, and at the waterfront side, every apartment has a large balcony. (with the possibility of docking a boat )

In conclusion, each apartment is a state of the art home in the historic heart of one of the most beautiful cities in the Netherlands. The property embraces comfort, luxury and a real home feeling. Bakker: “The pictures tell their own story, don’t you think!?”.
